The French Environment and Energy Management Agency , industrial and commercial public agency, under the joint supervision of French Ministries for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning (MEDAD) and for Higher Education and Research.
Mission : encouraging, supervising, coordinating, facilitating and undertaking operations with the aim of protecting the environment and managing energy.
Organized on 3 sites for the central departments (Paris, Angers and Valbonne), it is also composed of 26 regional branches, three representative offices in France’s overseas territories and one representative office in Brussels.
Ademe takes part in the implementation of the public policies in the fields of environment, energy and durable development and more precisely in the sectors of air, building, noise, climatic change, waste, energy saving, renewable energies and matter, environmental management, polluted sites and grounds, transport.
Ademe can intervene in very varied forms (support for research, consulting and expertise, design of tools, diffusion of good practices, financings, formation, information, communication and sensitizing) and places these capacities at the disposal of the companies, local communities and authorities, and general public.
Ademe and the sustainable development: Sustainable development is placed in the heart of the action of Ademe.This mission was specified in 2003 by the National Strategy of Sustainable Development in order to sensitize all the public with the sustainable development and to contribute to the implementation of steps.
